1. In this piece I tried creating a double exposure portrait. I was able to master the adjustments of levels in the photo to help separate the subject from the back ground. However, I struggled with smooth lines throughout the hair line which made a bumpy appearance round the head. 2. I drew inspiration from Levi van Veluw and his portraits that are filled with plants as well as different landscapes. 3. Initially, I had planned to use some of my own photography for the landscape, however none of the photos I had made much sense when mixed with a portrait. I decided to put the portrait in the right third, following the rules of thirds, in order to create a more visually appealing piece. 4. If I were to do the piece over again I would use a different portrait with smoother hair and more of a side so the features would be more distinct and the lines would not be as rough. I would also like to try making the landscape more 3-D similar to van Veluw. 5. The common thread throughout my pieces is nature in a minimalistic form (as seen in the back grounds, having them be very simple).
